Collifornia Dreaming

ARTFORM was proud to host Peter Collis, well-known New Zealand potter, with an exhibition on his return from an 8-month sabbatical in Los Angeles, California. This adventure started after Julie, Peter’s wife, won a global acting award with her one-person show 2 years ago. Based on this success, and another award for a short film a few months later, the Collis duo headed up to LA last year on an adventure to crack the Hollywood market for 65-stunning women actors. All was heading in the right direction when….COVID 19……

A visit to the beautiful Janette Cervin....

For years now I have been looking at Janette’s work, and like so many I find myself standing there drooling in admiration and desire to obtain one. Not quite there yet, but I am now proud to be hanging them at Artform. A few visits to Janette and Jake’s beautiful home on the outskirts of Warkworth (yes, she is a true local), and we have selected a colourful dream wall for you to view…

Light & Bright

For many years now, I have had an obsession with glass and light. Lighting as such then became more of an obsession when working with David Trubridge in the early days of his expansion off shore, travelling around the world with lights packed in every corner of our suitcases, assempling, dis-assembling, top & tailing NZ style on the floors of other Kiwis

We Welcome Catrina Lloyd - Abstract Visual Artist

At Artform we are hosting Visual Artists with a body of work for 10 days every 6 weeks. The selection of the work is by the theme of the overall current theme story in the gallery, or due to loving the way they work along side objects and sculpture.

This round we have selected Catrina Lloyd, a Muriwai based artist who works with layering brushstrokes of colour on paper and board, enhanced by fine lines of ink or blotches of dye. Her abstract work is stunning as a body of work, and each one shines when taken aside and complimented with an object to bring out the colour and movement.

Katie Brown in her Element.

Watch Katie performing her magic…because that is what it is: magic. I mean how else can you explain sand turning into hot liquid, gooey material, and it turns into stunning objects that are either sculptural, or you drink wine out of! Truely magic, and as a performer, Katie Brown rocks it!

Introducing Vanessa Wairata Edwards

Walking into Vanessa’s studio one street back from the wild West Coast beach in Castlecliff, you can feel the conversation going on in every direction you look. There are haunting black & white etchings and prints of Maori women, birds and fauna clashing with Edwardian motives. There is Harakeke that forms a frame around a multi layered story of love, nurture and humanity, deeply soulful. Vanessa has many stories to tell….

Visit to Justin Culina

As part of the school holidays, I took my son up to Whangarei to visit Justin Culina and his gorgeous family. A delightful afternoon had my son taking amazing photos, helping Justin make a piece of glass and we came away totally buzzing from the experience. We also had a car load of extremely beautiful pieces, many of them new to his style of work, and many selling as we unpacked them, such is the increase in his ability and level of finess.
