Hand blown glass by Justin Culina

Raranga is an ancient method of weaving baskets, using Harakeke - flax found in plentiful amounts in New Zealand gardens. The baskets were a dominant feature in fishing, cooking, foraging and means of transport for Maori, hence feature strongly in New Zealand art and design. this Woven Vase is a beautiful representation of the movement of weaving, and how the colours of flax merge and mix in the structure of weaving. Nice work, Justin.
