Anne Hudson translated a trip to Antarctica into a series of ceramic bowls - the 'Ice Bowls'. And just as the ice can be smooth or precarious, the bowls are refined or distressed, showing colours from the deep water to the start white and golden tips of the sunlight touching the icicles. 'Bereft' by Annie McIver is apt for last year - beautiful humanity captured in clay, a mother with her baby, bereft for a reason no one wants to know but can only imagine. Annie, known for her hand built animals with human expressions, uses delicate intuition to bring emotions to the surface. Hauntingly beautiful.
