Lucy Eglington

to create part of their family’s heritage, that will bring joy for generations to come, is a real honour. For me, it is one of the privileges of being an artist

We Love…

Lucy’s work will leave you awestruck. It is dancing through fantasy realms defying the possibilities of nature, while appearing so real that you are simply certain that her figures are going to blink, take a breath or turn at any given moment. Lucy’s work is truly exquisite and will leave you bewitched. ARTFORM.

Feature

Working primarily in oils, Lucy’s paintings explore the realm we occupy inside ourselves, our dreams, our surroundings, and those we share them with. Particularly interested in people’s inner stories, and the perceptions and psychological constructs they manufacture for themselves, she often uses animals to represent ideas and feelings, and also add individuals’ narratives to the works.

Lucy Eglington was born and educated in the UK and travelled extensively before settling in New Zealand in 2003. Her arts education began in the UK and continues in NZ with foundation courses at Whitecliffe College Of Arts And Design, plus completing a two year intensive painting program with Matthew Browne and Kathryn Stevens at the Browne School of Art.

Influenced by renaissance and classical painters, Lucy celebrates beauty and the ways in which even lavish or kitsch themes can commingle with darker ideas to produce work that is both beautiful and meaningful.

Lucy also undertakes portraiture work and enjoys and welcomes commissions. Her most recent portrait, The Cusp, was a finalist in the Adam Portrait Awards 2014 and was displayed in the New Zealand National Portrait Gallery.
