Hand-built Ceramic by Annie McIver
Annie is well-known for her humanistic elements incorporated into animal sculptures, hand-built out of white bodied ceramic. Of this series, Annie says: “Adult recollections of childhood memories often differ between siblings. Sewing, embroidery and woven thread have been lifelong pursuits of mine and as I construct, they carry a variety of inferences. The journey of a thread may metaphorically imply the genesis of our DNA, of our culture, and of our ancestral heritage. Their warp and weft shape our world view as they are woven into our individual life tapestry.”
